In today’s nonstop world, it can be tough to find a sense of grounding in work and life. There’s been a lot of hype around energy healing helping to improve an individual’s overall sense of wellness. Mainstream media from Newsweek to Vanity Fair has covered Reiki energy healing quite a bit despite the holistic practice having been around for centuries. So can it really improve your overall sense of health and wellness? First, let’s start with the basics…

What exactly is energy healing?

Reiki (pronounced “Ray-Key”) energy healing is a holistic healing method that primarily aims to align the individual’s energetic centers (chakras). This energy healing modality helps to activate an individual’s natural healing processes. Reiki energy, which is universal energy, connects our higher self with everything around us. Reiki energy is the living energy that sustains life. It is the life force energy that connects us to what we need. Overall, Reiki is not a religion but rather a holistic method for physical healing, mental, and spiritual growth.

As you may already know, all living things are made up of energy. This energy is often called Chi, Prana, or soul. There are many disciplines have been developed to help develop and balance our energy centers (chakras). Aside from Reiki healing, other modalities such as qigong, tai chi, meditation, yoga, and feng shui are just a few of the many ways to enhance the flow of this life force energy.

What are the benefits of energy healing?

Reiki has traditionally been effective as a way to help individuals increase awareness, mindfulness and personal growth. You don’t have to be a Reiki Master to practice. We all have the ability to heal ourselves and harness the power of Reiki energy. Reiki may help individuals relax, gain clarity, and energy. It may relieve physical pain, accelerate natural healing, and prevent the progress of disease. Reiki also has the potential to detoxify the body, clear energy blockages, and release emotional baggage.

How does energy healing work?

During an in-person Reiki session, the practitioner places his or her hands on or just above a client’s body. The practitioner conducts universal energy from their arms, and out through his or her hands where it flows into the client’s body. During a distance Reiki session, the practitioner channels the healing energy to the receiver in a different location. Universal energy is not limited by time or space. Thus, the results of a distance Reiki session and in-person session are the same.

In a Reiki session, the practitioner does not rely on his or her personal energy. Rather, practitioners are conduits for channeling the energy. In an in-person and distance Reiki session, the energy drawn in by the recipient through the practitioner. The energy will go where it is needed in the order that the recipient’s body and mind determines.

Ready to incorporate simple Reiki energy healing tips into your routine?
Start by applying Reiki universal healing energy to help you release fear based thoughts. There are many ways to do so. Let’s begin with the basic Reiki principles to help you release fears.

The five Reiki principles are meant to be ideals that you strive toward to add balance and peace to your life. It’s impossible to live every moment within these principles. Nevertheless, you may continue to improve how you manage your thoughts and actions each day so that your actions over time will become a natural way of being. After all, energy flows where the mind goes.

Just for today, I will trust.
Just for today, I will love.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.
Just for today, I will be kind to my neighbor and every living thing.

Reading the principles in the morning and evening may be helpful for focusing on these ideals. You can also carry them with you or have them visible in a place you visit often. The five principles will have different meanings for everyone. You may wish to meditate on the principles to see what they mean for you. You can also focus on the energy of each principle and what it feels like. Holding the intention is more important than the semantics of the principles.
